The distant view surrounding the pyramid has been significantly expanded; while not quite done (I'm not yet happy with the distant forest), and not perfect, I think that I'm getting there with it. Along with this came some further tweaking of the middle-distance forest.
I've started work on the tutorials that I intend to show during the prologue level--and indeed, I believe that I have them largely complete, with a bit of implementation yet to be done. I'm trying to avoid overloading the player with tutorial text, while still covering elements of gameplay that I feel are important to convey to a first-time player.
There have been changes to the sky, both in appearance and internal handling: For the former, the colour should be slightly less saturated (which I think works a bit better with the colours of the level), and I've changed the approach to the horizon haze--I rather prefer the new effect. For the latter, I've made changes to the internal handling of both sky and surrounding scenery that should--hopefully--make both a little easier to implement into subsequent levels.
The newest puzzle-type--the "translation" puzzle that replaces the old cypher-puzzle--has been added into the level, ready to be discovered and solved; along with this came various bits of implementation and bug-fixing, I believe. I'm not yet sure of the word-roots and (simple) grammar that I've come up with for the "puzzle-language", but I think that I've made a decent start on it.
Over the course of the week I made three animated gifs--one each showing the new surrounding scenery, a bit of traversal, and some puzzles. All of these were shown on Twitter, and the last should be visible above, I believe.
Finally, various bugs were fixed, and a bit of lore written for one of the enemies.
That's all for this week--thank you for reading, and stay well! ^_^
